What A Day!

We knew from the get go that today was not going to be pretty. We all had to watch Logan shake as he went through narcotic withdrawls until around noonish when his methadone got to the room. He felt much better after that! I really don’t like watching the withdrawl stuff – it’s ugly! Seth’s parents left town to go home right after this.

Then (!) it was decided that his right arterial (RA) line that went to his heart should be removed. It was a risk for infection and wasn’t being used anymore for meds, so the PA came to remove it and it broke inside Logan after a few tugs. That is when the drainage tube started showing new blood and they rushed to the OR. This is when I called Seth’s parents and begged them to come back! :)

Logan is resting nicely in his room again. They did not have to open his sternum again (Yay!), Dr. Heinle opened his incision up a bit and they found the tubing that had broken off. This stuff NEVER happens, but we were very lucky that the catheter did not damage the heart. Today could have been so much worse!

I’m still bummed that he in intubated again, but they will be extubating tomorrow.

So glad that he is doing well! Wonderful news! Rainy

  3. So glad they were able to get it out without having to completely open him up again.

Those withdrawl symptoms are AWFUL. Poor Joshua had a rough go of it before they got his methadone regulated. It was awful watching him go through that and not be able to do anything to help.

So glad Logan is doing so much better! :o )
